Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

Position Requirements

About This Role

As a Cloud Engineer intern, you will work in the Cloud Engineering area of the Information Technology Division and will provide support to cloud platform and enablement teams responsible for maintaining and enhancing the enterprise cloud environment. You will work closely with team members to provide cloud engineering and enablement services, including configuration, development, testing and troubleshooting of cloud-based services.

What You'll Be Doing

Cloud Engineer interns support teams in

• Creating infrastructure to streamline development of applications using modern cloud practices. Monitoring web services, network and server performance
• Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with security policies and best practices in cloud security. Supports the process of building cloud solutions based on security, monitoring, logging, and alerting requirements.
• Reviewing cloud systems for vulnerabilities
• Developing testing use cases and detailed testing plans that map to the documented business and technical requirements

Previous Cloud Engineer interns had the opportunity to contribute to projects related to

• Development of DevSecOps automated pipelines on GitLab
• Development of cloud-based infrastructure as code
• Automated build and testing of cloud-based virtual servers and containers
• Building applications or application components using cloud-native infrastructure and services

Through these projects, you will gain experience with various cloud systems and have the opportunity to determine if a career in cloud engineering is for you.
