Job Description

SUMMARY: The primary function of this position is to drive a straight truck and manually unload, using a two-wheeler on metal truck ramps, various products (meat, produce, frozen foods, dry goods, supplies) to customer sites while providing excellent customer service. It is further required that the above function be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and FUNCTIONS:
Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including obtaining and reviewing driver itinerary for assigned deliveries, checking customer invoices of products that have been loaded, completing required trailer temperature checks and performing pre-trip safety check inspections of trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Drive to and deliver customer orders to meet the scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery schedules. Unload products from the trailer using a two-wheeler and place items in designated customer storage areas.

Perform all post-trip responsibilities including unloading damaged goods and customer returns and completing necessary paperwork; performing safety checks on the truck and trailer, fueling, parking and securing the tractor/trailer and two-wheeler, completing DOT logs (electronic or manual as required) and company vehicle maintenance reports (DVIR) and turn in all paperwork as required by company.

Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & SKILLS:
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.

Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with the necessary endorsements and meet the medical requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and have a good driving record.

Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) i.e. XRS, and tools used to perform the job.

Must have excellent customer service skills.

Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

>1 year experience in a transportation position.

Demonstrates proficient knowledge of general DOT regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
>3 years CDL driving

Experience delivering food products

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and taste or smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 60 pounds.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Must have ability to safely transport product using a two-wheel cart where weight of all products can be up to 500lbs.
