As a Consumer Underwriter, you’ll play a critical role in reviewing and approving loan applications, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and helping members access the credit they need. As a Consumer Underwriter, You’ll: Evaluate Loan Applications: Review consumer loan applications to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with credit policies. Decision‑Making: Approve or refer applications based on risk assessment, creditworthiness, and member needs. Collaboration: Work with loan officers and other team members to gather information and clarify application details. Compliance & Risk Management: Follow all credit union policies, regulatory guidelines, and documentation standards to protect our members and the organization. Member Support: Provide guidance to loan officers and members, helping them understand lending decisions and requirements. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy and compliance. What We’re Looking For: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions. Knowledge of lending guidelines and financial regulations is preferred. Previous underwriting or lending experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate!
