Flotex Flocked

Order Brochure

Flotex is a unique textile floor covering that combines the hard wearing and durable characteristics of a resilient floor with the quality, warmth and comfort of a carpet. Flotex is a strong and hygienic floor, and being completely waterproof, it is also the only truly washable textile floor. Flotex is available in sheet, tile and plank formats.

Product construction
Flotex is made up from a solid vinyl, reinforced base with a densely flocked surface of nylon 6.6. fibres, that are anchored firmly into the base layer. It is extremely dimensionally stable and has the optics of a textile floor covering, whilst being as functional, durable and easy to clean as any resilient floor covering.

Quiet yet hygienic
The nylon fibres not only perform in sound absorption and comfort, they also capture allergens and fine dust from the air, all of which they effortlessly release in any cleaning action in both dry and wet conditions. Through its construction Flotex is protected against mould and odours whilst keeping up its appearance, as the floor restores to mint condition after every cleaning action.

Safe & sound absorbing
Flotex provides both low in-room impact noise performance (class A) as well as good impact sound reduction (>20dB), meaning a quiet room and a quiet building. Flotex also meets the HSE wet and dry slip resistance classifications for use of flat surfaces and ramps.
Durable & comfortable
Discover the toughness and durability of Flotex which comes as a result of the 80 million nylon 6.6. fibres per m2, while experiencing the quietness and comfort normally only associated with a carpet as a result of the impervious cushioned backing.

Warm while washable
Simple every day vacuuming removes any dirt or dust trapped in the dense nylon surface. However also steam cleaning or deeper mechanical cleaning can be used after heavy soiling, requiring a minimum of traditional detergents. Simple cleaning action already restores Flotex to its original appearance. The wide array of colours and designs in which Flotex is offered, remain as vibrant and livery as the day the floor was installed.

Flotex sheet

Flotex sheet is easy and quick to install and therefore a perfect solution for large commercial or public areas. Flotex sheet is available in rolls of 2×30 meter. Flotex is our textile flocked flooring brand, which is known for its high quality and unique construction. Because of this unique construction, Flotex is the most hygienic textile floor covering in the world. It is applicable in many different environments and for each environment, it has multiple advantages.

Washable and fast drying
Flotex floorings are waterproof and washable with many different cleaning products. Even mechanical wet cleaning is possible on this flooring solution. Because Flotex captures allergens and fine dust from the air, it’s important to clean the floor in a good and easy way. The good thing is that the fibres of Flotex effortlessly release dust and allergens during cleaning, both dry and wet cleaning. Flotex floorings will be dry in a very short amount of time when you choose wet cleaning.

Hygienic
Because of the unique construction, Flotex is the most hygienic textile floor covering in the world. Compared to carpets, Flotex uses fibres which are standing straight ahead while carpet has a far more complex structure. Both floorings capture allergens and fine dust from the air, but vacuuming a Flotex flooring removes double the allergens compared to conventional carpet floors. This is one of the reasons why Forbo’s Flotex flocked flooring is the only textile floor covering to be awarded the prestigious Allergy UK Seal of Approval™.

Sound reduction
In some environments, it’s essential to have spaces with low sound levels. Schools and offices are typical examples where noise is not appreciated. The fibres within Flotex floorings offer the experience of quietness and comfort normally only associated with a carpet.

Slip resistant
Flotex floorings are slip resistant, in dry and wet conditions. This is a big advantage if, for example, you are cleaning the floor while people are walking over it.

Durable
Discover the durability and toughness of Flotex, which comes as a result of the 80 million nylon 6.6. fibres per square metre, while experiencing the quietness and comfort normally only associated with a carpet. This is a result of the impervious cushioned backing and high pile density.

As modular flooring is a major trend, we’ve developed different Flotex plank collections in plank sizes of 100×25 cm. Stunning floorplans can be created with the contemporary designs that match every requirement.

Application & use
The versatile Flotex plank designs lend themselves equally well to contemporary or classic office environments as to areas like airport lounges, congress centers, restaurants or hotels.
The Flotex Planks Wood and Seagrass design, because of their natural and warm feel, even go down well in homely environments like housing for the aged and care facilities.
Sophistication & style
Flotex planks offer endless possibilities to mix and match colours within one design. Laying patterns can also create stimulating and lively environments with zigzag motives or herringbone designs. Flotex planks show little repeat in their patterning, creating interesting and beautiful floors even when only one single colour is used.

Flotex: the sustainable floor

Green electricity
Forbo’s manufacturing operations for Flotex in Great Britain and France secure a high quality floor covering, produced with green electricity and minimum waste streams that are all recycled in the floor.

Water based
Flotex is created with nylon 6.6 fibres. All dies and inks that are used to create the Flotex designs are water based. No additional chemical processes take place other than high temperature steam treatment to secure the colours.

Recycled content
Flotex makes use of waste streams of other Forbo production locations to be transformed into the backing of the floor coverings. Recycled content in Flotex is up to 67% of the backing content.
Extremely durable
A big advantage for using Flotex is the extreme performance of the floor covering, with a product life time that surpasses that of ordinary textiles by a factor 6.

Simple cleaning & maintenance
Flotex can be cleaned by using water and a simple detergent. For most staining, simple household soap is enough to clean the product, while other detergent clean away ink, oil and more severe stains. After use Flotex can be recycled back into the production process.
