Club Role – Yoga Instructor

Job Summary

Our Yoga instructors are responsible for teaching participants various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mediation practices while ensuring their safety and providing modifications to accommodate different levels of ability, all within a supportive and mindful environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Demonstrates expert knowledge of established program curriculum according to standards

● Create connections with members in building our yoga/group fitness programs

● Generate brand awareness inside and outside the facility

● Upholds all club policies and procedures in a tactful and positive manner

● Maintain the schedule of classes to ensure they are posted in a timely manner with information the members can follow

● Communicate clearly and effectively with current and future employees and management

● Address member concerns with tact

● Excellent physical fitness and a knowledge of safe group fitness practices and current health wellness information.

● Maintaining class attendance records

● Communicating club information to participating members and non-members

● Keep current with industry trends, literature 

● Providing a safe and effective group exercise program in a physiologically sound format that takes into consideration the individual needs and limitations of participants

● Maintains group exercise rooms and equipment

● Communicate programs, events and schedules to other departments, especially Member Services

● Designing and delivering yoga sessions which teaches participants how to perform poses, and guiding meditations.

● Demonstrating to participants the proper techniques and practices

● Visually evaluating participants’ proficiency

● Maintains a high professionalism in regard to attitude and performance

● Maintains or develops necessary knowledge regarding position related topics

● Other duties as assigned

Compensation

● Part-time employee

● Hourly rate determined on experience

● Complimentary gym membership

Qualifications

● Yoga Teacher Training Certificate

● Anatomy and Physiology Knowledge – understanding the human body, including muscle groups and joint movements

● Comprehensive Yoga Practice – deep personal practice across various yoga styles, including alignment principles and modifications

● Communication Skills – Ability to clearly explain instructions, provide effective cues, and adapt language to different student levels.

● Leadership and Motivational Skills – Inspiring students to reach their full potential

● Injury Prevention and Modification Knowledge – understanding how to modify poses for different body types and limitations to prevent injuries.

● CPR/AED certification 

● Must be a leader and team player

Job Requirements

● Pass drug screening

● Background check

● Ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

● Certification as a Yoga Instructor

● CPR/AED Certification

● Experience leading yoga classes for all participants of all levels and abilities

● Customer Service/Communication Skills

● Ability to create a positive and welcoming environment

● Ability to stand, sit and move around for extended periods of time

● Ability to lift and carry Yoga equipment and supplies

● Ability to demonstrate yoga poses and techniques

● Use of eye scan technology for recording time worked

● Not eligible to work remotely
