\n\nJob Description\n

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses, advocating in the care of individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act and United Health Services policies. They foster a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

\n\nResponsibilities\n

\n
• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
\n
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
\n
• Administer medications safely in accordance with policy.
\n
• Utilize resources effectively, managing staffing, time, supplies, and services.
\n
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance and quality improvement initiatives.
\n
• Engage in professional development and continuing education.
\n
• Support new employees and students in a learning environment.
\n
• Perform other duties as assigned.

\n\nRequired Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n

\n
• Three years of experience in an Emergency Department, with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.
\n
• Current New York State RN License.
\n
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
\n
• Preferred: ACLS certification and relevant skills certification (i.e., PALS, TNCC).
\n
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
\n
