American Traveler is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Emergency Department (ED) with current Alaska RN licensure and leadership experience in emergency services.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in the Emergency Department including oversight of the Stroke Program, Trauma Program, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program
  • Leadership position in a busy hospital ED setting
  • Responsible for patient care operations, staff management, and program oversight
  • Day shift schedule with 8-hour shifts
  • Participation in nursing leadership and hospital management teams
  • Leads, mentors, and supports program coordinators and ED staff
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Manages departmental budgets and staffing, including SANE and Trauma programs
  • Guides performance improvement efforts and participates in departmental quality initiatives
  • Assists with hiring, staff scheduling, payroll, appraisals, and recognition
  • May participate in hospital and professional committees and community organizations
  • Supports ongoing professional development and staff competency
  • Serves as resource for Medical Staff Committees and projects

  • Active Alaska RN license required
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, and BERT certifications required
  • Minimum five years of current acute care nursing experience required
  • At least two years of supervisory or management experience in an ED preferred
  • Previous Director of ER experience required
