Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital

Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health's four hospitals at 123-beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Work Preformed

To actively coordinate, on a day-to-day basis, the provision of high quality, comprehensive pharmaceutical care to the patients, in compliance with federal and state legal/regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.

This includes:

1. Involvement with multiple drug distribution functions (inclusive of computerized order entry and/or prospective review and verification of physicians' orders, IV admixture preparation, etc.);
2. Defined clinical/cognitive activities to optimize therapeutic outcomes under the aegis of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives (which include active communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff about the need to clarify and/or change an order along with documentation of intervention outcomes);
3. Educational activities with pharmacist colleagues and other health care professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, etc.) to maintain and advance clinical competency vis-a-vis drug therapy; and,
4. "Supervisory" functions which provide professional oversight and direction of technicians' drug preparation and distribution activities to assure safe and expedient provision of pharmaceutical care to DRMC patients and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education

Entry-level pharmacy degree (e.g., B.Sc, PharmD) from an accredited college of pharmacy.

Experience

Preferred: Two (2) or more years of experience in a hospital or health system.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Licensed Pharmacist by the NC Board of Pharmacy.

Schedule Varies

• 0600 to 1430, 0800 to 1630, 1300 to 2100.
• Currently rotating weekends and holidays.
• Weekends and holidays are 0700 to 1900.
