divh2Job Responsibilities/h2pYou will remove fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft and disassemble structural and non-structural metal and composite components. You will work from technical drawings, directives, manuals, and other written or verbal instructions, and assist equivalent and lower-grade level employees. You will use hand or power tools to make replacement parts for aircraft structural and skin sections. You will assess damaged parts to determine the sequence of operations necessary to affect repairs or replacements. You will comply with safety regulations, practices, and procedures. You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performing metal repair, fabrication, planning, laying out, designing, and assembling/dissembling aircraft and aircraft components; 2) Applying knowledge of the characteristics and properties of any metals (i.e. stainless steel, magnesium, honeycomb) used in the trade; 3) Using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments; 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics of items to be repaired; 5) Devising templates/patterns into shapes (i.e. rectangular, cylindrical, tapered, etc.); 6) Using geometry, trigonometry, and other shop mathematics to design parts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
