Job Description

Overview RF DOCSIS Test Engineer at CableLabs The RF DOCSIS Test Engineer resides in the Lab Services department at CableLabs. This department is responsible for the execution of DOCSIS Certification as well as all commercial testing engagements. Our team plays a crucial role in delivering results that ensure compliant and robust Cable Modems and Wireless equipment is available to our members. What You’ll Do Maintain test environment, procedures, and scripts to evaluate RF performance and interoperability. Conduct RF certification tests on DOCSIS equipment and prepare detailed documentation. Operate and maintain advanced RF test and measurement equipment, including Averna, ePIDoX, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes. Analyze test results, troubleshoot performance issues, and provide clear technical recommendations for corrective actions. Partner with cross-functional teams that define specifications and acceptance test procedures (ATPs), accurately execute those tests, and collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise. Stay current with DOCSIS standards, RF technologies, and cable industry trends to guide test strategies. Support certification processes by preparing reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in RF testing, certification, or system verification within the cable industry. Prior hands-on DOCSIS experience is mandatory. Strong knowledge of RF circuit design, signal integrity, and system-level interactions. Proficiency with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc.). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively. Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. What Will Set You Apart Familiarity with cable modem, CMTS, and network system testing. Prior experience with Averna and ePIDoX PHY test systems. Experience with automation tools and scripting languages for test execution (e.g., Python, tcl). Knowledge of compliance and certification processes with CableLabs or similar industry organizations. Experience testing of Wireless technologies. At CableLabs You’ll Enjoy Comprehensive Compensation And Benefits Compensation: The salary range is $93,600 – $114,400 . This role is based in Louisville, CO with the expectation that the individual will work in the CableLabs testing lab 80% of the time on average. An understanding of network technologies and testing methodologies across both wireline and wireless devices is required.
