Job Description

A Research Nurse I/RRT manages clinical courses of research volunteers according to research protocol. Assesses physical health and administer treatments if applicable, throughout studies.

This position will work Monday to Friday; 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work and is located at CHI/Bergan Mercy Hospital (7500 Mercy Rd., Omaha, NE)

Responsibilities

• Includes collecting necessary data through patient interviews including, but not limited to, past medical history, present illness, social history, family history, medication history.
• Coordinate and document all aspects of research patient care (including telephone contact with patients, or friends/family; conversations with the research team and all medical providers who participate in the patient's care, etc.) to ensure a comprehensive and consistent approach to the patient's treatment.
• Transcribe data completely and accurately to the case report forms for data entry to the database if applicable. Coordinate laboratory specimen processing and handling with appropriate lab supervisors.
• Maintain confidential records of participants according to FDA and NIH regulations.
• Assist in maintenance of statistics of patient status.
• Perform phlebotomy, vital signs, throat cultures, and other procedures within the scope of a nurse, and as directed by specific protocols. Initiates laboratory tests as defined within the scope of the protocols.
• Manage laboratory abnormalities and adverse experiences as directed by the protocols, and when appropriate, notify the Principal Investigator.

Requirements

• Degree in Nursing
• 2 or more years of clinical experience, research setting is preferred
• State of NE RN license or compact state
• Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) preferred
