About the Role

Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for a entry level Human Resources Generalist at our corporate office located in Marietta, PA (Lancaster County). Preferred candidates will reside in areas surrounding the Marietta, PA office as this position will be   onsite , 5 days per week, at our home office location.

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for effective execution of human resources functions such as talent development, talent acquisition and selection, engagement, performance management, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation.

The ideal candidate shall display excellent communications skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees, to make sound business decisions, handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to be flexible; change direction quickly in order to handle unplanned items as they arise.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Works in partnership with assigned client groups and the management team to evaluate staffing issues and develop a recruiting plan to support the various departments 
• Prepares and places advertising to support recruitment plan and frequently uses our applicant tracking system. 
• Recruits the best talent available to ensure immediate and long-term staffing needs of the organization are achieved 
• Develops terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers 
• Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
• Frequent use of our HRIS system to look up information, add and/or update information, and run reports as needed. 
• Partners with management to provide HR guidance, improve work relationships, build morale, and increase retention 
• Handle employee relations within assigned client group; conducts investigations and suggests solutions 
• Provides day-to-day performance management guidance within assigned client group (i.e. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and exit interviews)
• Maintains and/or assists with company’s I-9 program and/or E-Verify requirements and partners with Donegal’s legal department on immigration matters requiring HR involvement. 
• Comply with policies and directives outlined in the company handbook and department manuals 

Qualifications and Skills

• Entry level Human Resources Generalist position with an emphasis on employee relations, onboarding, talent acquisition, and compensation. 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field

Work Arrangement

Donegal Insurance Group has a variety of positions that are either onsite, hybrid, or remote. With each department and position being different, the work arrangement for a specific position will be reviewed with candidates during a initial phone screening.
