POSITION SUMMARY The Slope Maintenance Department is hiring level 1, 2, and 3 Mechanics. If you have a solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, we are interested in speaking with you! Our resort operates multiple types of vehicles, including snowcats, snowmobiles, rangers, and trucks. During your interview you will be placed according to your current skill set and certifications held. This will also determine your starting wage. Below are some of the minimum skills to be considered for each level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - ALL MECHANICS - Repair equipment, vehicles, snowmobiles, small engines in accordance with SSRC quality and efficiency standards under direction by management and higher level technicians
- Service equipment daily - vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, small engines - diagnose and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, hydraulics, etc. to specification following direction by management.
- Repair orders - work on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with standards. Check completed repair order for accuracy.
- Work with other departments - explain mechanical diagnosis and required repairs in a non-technical manner to internal customers (other departments).
- Follow proper tracking procedures. Complete repair orders for maintenance work performed. Adapt to varying tasks according to changing volume and business needs.
- Perform maintenance in a timely manner to ensure continued operation of equipment.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in order to stay current with rapidly changing technology.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
- Must continually demonstrate a willingness and motivation to learn and develop the job skills that are specific to the types of equipment that must be maintained.
- Must be able to work well within a team to create a positive work environment in a high volume, and at times, stressful position.

- Work with all fellow mechanics and lift supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations of the tramway.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - APPRENTICE / MECHANIC I - Minor mechanic skills and knowledge
- 1 year of mechanic coursework
- Must have basic computer competency
- Ability to interpret and understand basic documented standards and procedures including work orders and maintenance repair manuals; including adherence to recognized safety requirements and labor time standards
- Individual accountability and strong attention to detail to consistently meet and exceed work quality standards
- Self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with co-workers, internal and external customers
- Must meet SSRC minimum driving standards and have current driver's license; a successful motor vehicle record background check is required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - JOURNEYM AN / MECHANIC II - Two years' heavy equipment repair experience or one year automotive tech training. School may be substituted for one year repair experience.
- Must be familiar with all types of shop equipment such as tire changing machine, wheel balance, jacks
- Must have valid drivers license and meet company's insurance carrier requirement
- Adhere to all safety policies
- Interact, model, and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC's Service Excellence standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - MASTER / MECHANIC III - Must have 3 or more years' experience repairing and maintaining equipment, snowcats, vehicles, snowmobiles, and small engines
- Experience working on heavy equipment
- Must have good phone and computer skills
- Be a leader and good communicator
- Proficient education in electronics hydraulics and diesel and gas engines
- Must adhere to all safety policies
- Expected to problem solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
- Must be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - ALL POSITIONS - High School diploma or GED
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $22.00 - $33.50 per hour PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - ALL POSITIONS - Must be able to lift 50lbs at various heights and/or uneven terrain.
- Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme weather conditions (snow, cold, wind etc.).
- Must be able to read and write in the English language.
- Must be able to work in extreme heights, climbing towers etc.
