Description Strategic Responsibility: Provides direct security and related public services for the David C Cook headquarters. As a Security Officer, you will assist with all physical security aspects of the David C Cook headquarters site, protecting assets and staff as well as tenants and their assets.
Job Description: Provides a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas which may include, but are not limited to, areas such as the main building, grounds, parking areas, and stairways.
Is constantly alert and vigilant with for activities which could result in injury to a person or damage to or loss of property. Responds quickly to emergency and non-emergency situations.
Communicates effectively with diverse people including clients or their representatives, employees, visitors, and vendors.
Verbally intervenes during crisis. This includes the functional ability to quickly grasp various situations, develop rapport with upset people, and understand when people are or are not processing information, and be supportive and directive as needed.
Investigates unusual or suspicious situations including but not limited to unlawful intrusions, fires, and property damage. Maintains records and logs as assigned. Writes investigation reports.
Apprehends unauthorized persons found on property, using armed force if necessary, and releases them to custody of authorities.
Contacts supervisor by radio or telephone to report irregularities and obtain further instructions.
Have thorough knowledge of company procedures and regulations. Enforce company procedures and regulations during and after normal work hours.
Assists with emergency situations. Coordinates activities with police and fire departments during alarms.
Maintain positive interaction with fellow employees, public safety personnel, and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and possess a high level of attention to detail; ability to write accurate and detailed reports, records, and other documents.
Must be able to work on short notice. Must be willing to work varying shifts to include nights and weekends. Subject to call out any time.
Escorts and assists client personnel.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Perform reception duties during normal shift hours. Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
Qualifications Position Requirements: Formal Education: High School Diploma, or GED.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in Law Enforcement, Security, or related field. Preferred: Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Security, or City of Colorado Springs Private Security Officer Training. Must be 21 years old at time of employment. US Citizenship is required.
Specialized Knowledge/Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License. CPR/AED and first aid certification. Knowledge of state and local law enforcement techniques, equipment, and procedures. Must have working knowledge of state and local laws including, but not limited to, officer authority, search and seizure, use of force, civil rights, and drug and weapons violations. Must be able to act quickly and decisively in stressful situations. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing all duties as defined by job description. Must be in good physical health and be fully capable of performing normal and emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion. Excellent customer services skills both written and verbal (in person and over the phone). The Receptionist-Temporary role serves as the primary coverage for receptionist shifts when needed. This position serves visitors both in person and over the phone - by greeting, welcoming, and directing them; notifying company personnel of visitor's arrival; and maintaining security and telecommunications system.
Equipment Knowledge: Applicants must meet the security services requirement to obtain and maintain a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit OR Title 18 Retired Law Enforcement permit. Employees will be required to continually participate in and pass Quarterly Firearms Qualifications. PC Computers, General Office Equipment.
