Security Benefit is searching for an Internal audit intern to join our Finance team. This position will work in our home office in Topeka, Kansas, and report to the Manager of Internal Audit. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The intern works under the supervision of the manager of internal controls and is charged with coordinating Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) business process documentation and updates. The intern will review process documents to help ensure appropriateness and uniformity, work with the internal audit team to document business process gaps as they occur, and work with process owners to obtain responses and resolutions. Secondary tasks will include working with internal audit on various financial and operational audit projects as assigned.

Eligibility

Students eligible for the internship will be full-time students available to work approximately 20 hours a week, beginning as soon as possible. Student will be expected to work during and in between semesters. This is not a summer only internship.

Qualifications:

• Full-time student in accounting and/or finance with at least a 3.5 GPA in majors. Current junior or senior preferred
• Willingness to develop industry-related knowledge
• Proficient with MS Excel and Word
• Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
• Ability to think objectively and analytically
• Ability to work with various levels of management
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
