Are you interested in what drives equity markets beyond traditional company fundamentals, such as the impact of passive investment strategies? The Strategic Opportunities Equity Research team is a new addition to the Stephens Equity Research platform.Strategic Opportunities will explore the impact of non-fundamental equity performance drivers to provide clients with alpha-generating strategies and help them manage event-driven opportunities and risks. This is a unique opportunity to assist the senior analyst in a fast-paced and dynamic environment in building out this exciting new research product.
As an associate, you will conduct thorough analyses of various domestic equity indexes, including monitoring and analyzing events, corporate actions and membership changes.You will assist with idea generation and analyses of non-fundamental equity drivers. This position is quantitative in nature, and coding ability is required - Python specifically, and candidates should also have proficiency in Excel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintain excellent programming skills particularly Python coding skills (Pandas/NumPy)
- Monitor news, corporate events, index announcements as well as market changes for index members
- Build and maintain Excel-based models and Python processes
- Provide information, analysis, modeling and organizational support to the senior level research analyst
- Leverage Bloomberg and other data providers for market data and analyses
- Use analytical skills to exercise judgment and evaluate data
- Use all resources to determine and locate relevant data
- Manage databases and electronic services (i.e. Bloomberg, FactSet, etc.)
- Meet the special projects demands of the senior level Research Analyst
- Build industry knowledge and contacts
- Communicate challenging concepts in oral or written form so that others will easily understand
- Work closely with the sales and trading group to develop new relationships, and with other members of the research team to provide ongoing support
- Translate quantitative data into written form, charts and graphs that can be included in research reports and distributed to clients of the firm
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree required.Preferred degree fields include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- Proficient in Python, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- 2+ years of experience in a finance and accounting and/or a research capacity preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Series 86 and 87 - Research Analyst
