Job Description Boston University's Metropolitan College seeks a dynamic and creative faculty member with expertise in criminal justice to join its nationally recognized Criminal Justice programs () within the Department of Applied Social Sciences, at the rank of Associate Professor of the Practice starting July or September 1, 2025.
The department is a leader in providing undergraduate and graduate education in criminal justice offered in flexible delivery formats including face-to-face, blended, and online. It offers the acclaimed Boston University online Master of Science in Criminal Justice programs, ranked the #3 best online graduate criminal justice programs by US News & World Report in 2024. With innovative faculty, the programs include cutting-edge specialized degree programs in cybercrime investigations and cybersecurity, crime analysis and strategic management.

Responsibilities: Faculty duties include teaching up to six courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels per academic year, including blended and online courses, conducting active research, participating in course and curriculum development, mentoring students, and providing service to the department, college and the university. This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor of the Practice with renewable a contract of up to five years at a time.
The faculty position offers significant opportunity for interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarly work, including research and curriculum development within Metropolitan College and Boston University, as well as the greater Boston area.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Required Skills Qualifications: The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in criminal justice or a closely related discipline and have demonstrated success in designing and teaching graduate and undergraduate-level courses. Experience in online and blended formats is a plus. Candidates should show promise in establishing a funded-research and publication track record, and have experience in research that readily informs practice in the field. We also welcome applications from candidates with professional and industry experience in addition to the terminal degree.
